Three-day pop-up will broadcast live from Sea Containers from 14 – 16 June and will be ‘Powered by Rinse’
Ogilvy & Mather Group UK is launching a three-day pop-up radio station entirely curated and hosted by its employees across the UK group.
Ogilvy Blaze Radio will broadcast live from Ogilvy’s iconic offices at Sea Containers on 14, 15 and 16 June from 9am – 9pm each day, and will be available to stream via ogilvy.co.uk/blaze.
The station will be ‘Powered By’ the groundbreaking London-based radio station Rinse FM, which has championed the capital's diverse and pioneering underground music community for over two decades. Rinse FM will handle the broadcast set-up for Ogilvy Blaze Radio, while Ogilvy is creating all the content in-house. The relationship with Rinse FM stemmed from Ogilvy & Mather Group UK’s Internal Communications Manager, Josephine Serieux, who is also a DJ on the pioneering London station.
Every Ogilvy agency and specialist division – including Ogilvy & Mather London, OgilvyOne, Ogilvy Healthworld, behavioural science specialists Ogilvy Change, and LGBT marketing practice Ogilvy Pride – will host their own shows, and the schedule will also be peppered with Ogilvy DJ sets, request shows, competitions and other features.
Highlights include Ask Annette Anything, which will see UK CEO, Annette King, answer questions from across the business posed by Ogilvy’s graduate trainees, and a music show during which UK Chairman and EMEA CEO, Paul O’Donnell, will be grilled about his favourite tracks if he were to be stuck on a remote island by UK Group Chief Marketing Officer, Nina Jasinski. There will also be a discussion about the art of writing for radio hosted by some of the team behind Ogilvy’s Cannes Lions-winning radio ads, as well as an interview between Ogilvy UK Vice-Chairman, Rory Sutherland, and Ogilvy PR’s Georgina Purdy, who recently returned to the company with two Guinness World Records under her belt having rowed the Atlantic as part of a four-girl crew.
As well as hosting shows, Ogilvy employees will also voice jingles and volunteer as production runners. Each day will end with a ‘bedtime story’ penned by one of the company’s budding authors.
Annette King, CEO of Ogilvy & Mather Group UK, said: “A lot of what we do is very visual, so we’re really excited about using the powerful medium of radio to celebrate our people and pioneering spirit in a different way. Everyone’s so fired up about this truly collaborative project and it’s been amazing to see how the whole company has pulled together to create a programme of fascinating and highly entertaining shows for Ogilvy Blaze Radio.”
Josephine Serieux, Internal Communications Manager, Ogilvy & Mather Group UK (and Rinse FM DJ Josey Rebelle), said: “As soon as I joined Ogilvy last year, I was blown away by its incredibly talented, creative and fun employees right across the business. Ogilvy’s company culture immediately made me feel at ease about blending my professional life as an internal communications manager with my personal life as a DJ on Rinse FM. This is an ambitious project but we’re going for a fun, family feel and we’d love people to listen in and interact if they want.”
Sarah Lockhart, CEO of Rinse Group, said: “We work with the world’s most pioneering creatives because these are the people that inspire and instigate change not only in their direct field but also on a wider, socio-economic plane. From Dizzee Rascal to the Tate galleries, Nike to the British Council, we provide like-minded creatives with fertile ground from which to shape sub-cultures globally.
“[Powered By] is our new B2B product line, leveraging our expertise, talent and facilities for brands, agencies and cultural institutions. Working with Oglivy to provide their broadcast solution is the ideal launch activation for [Powered By] as their brand represents some of the greatest creative minds shaping the world through a marketing lens. As such, as you will hear from their fascinating broadcast output, there is real synergy between the ethos of our two businesses.”
Ogilvy Blaze Radio will stream live via ogilvy.co.uk/blaze on 14, 15 & 16 June from 9am – 9pm daily.
