"Ogilvy & Mather is my dream company"

The latest Ogilvy Experience, our quarterly work experience programme for 16-22 year olds, took place last week.

Led by the Talent Management team, the programme is primarily aimed at those who are looking to get a taste of what it’s like to work in a communications agency like Ogilvy.

After submitting 60-second video applications, the 10 successful participants were given presentations about the business as well as some careers advice. They then split into two teams to work on a live project brief for a new multi-room speaker system.

This culminated in an afternoon of mock pitches on the final day, during which the teams presented their research, insights and creative solutions.

The young people gave great feedback about the week.

Guy Whitelam said: “The week was a really well put together, immersive experience and the talks were invaluable, especially the advice about CVs and internships. Having been highly interested in the advertising industry, but with little (to no) experience of what goes on day-to-day, I loved it and I am now set on applying to become an account manager.”

Another participant, Huazi Li, commented: “Thank you so much for this experience and everything. I learned a lot from you. My expectation was so high before that week, and my real experience was higher than expectation! Ogilvy & Mather is always my dream company.”

Rhiannon Lewis, Learning & Development Manager in the Talent Management team, told us: “Ogilvy Experience, our one-week immersion into ad-land, has been running for a year now. In that time, we’ve taken in just shy of fifty young people under our wing, and provided them with a week-long work experience programme. The feedback we receive from delegates has been overwhelmingly positive, and the week helps us showcase Ogilvy as a great place to come and work.”
